If you love words, you need to understand zines. On Saturday, July 26th from 2-4 PM, @jax_comix_core will be showcasing the Library’s Zine Collection at @HappyMediumBooksCafe to show you just how easy it is to publish your own work.
It's a ZINE IN!
And It's Free!
I’ll be introducing the medium, breaking down distinct subgenres (from perzines to political tracts), and demonstrating tactical tools like the booklet stapler. We’ll have a table packed with free making materials so you can prototype your own writing into a neat 8-page folded format.
And I’m calling all zinesters who want to help to come do a LIVE zine read-aloud.
If you're a local zinester or writer, come share your pages with a room of fellow creatives.

Join us at Happy Medium for a night of Reading Sprints! What are Reading Sprints? It is a style of reading that focuses on reading productivity. Similar toThe Pomodoro Technique for learning. Everyone gathers with their individually selected titles and we spend time chatting, getting drinks and snacks, etc… Once everyone is settled, we set a timer for 20 minutes. everybody reads silently until that timer is finished. 5-10 minute stretch break, or time to chat… Repeat! We plan on 4 cycles of reading and when we are done, you have read 180 minutes of reading!
