SUMMARY:BookTalk with Vic DiGenti
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Café as award winning author Vic DiGenti discusses his latest work James Anthony: The Banker Who Shaped Florida’s History. \nYou may not know the name James R. Anthony\, but Floridians\, who pay no state income tax\, owe him a debt of gratitude. From humble beginnings as a Georgia farm boy\, Anthony used his business acumen to help transform Florida’s wilderness settlements into thriving cities. Over a span of 36 years\, he found success in multiple fields\, including men’s clothing stores\, real estate\, banking\, and insurance\, helping to shape Florida’s future during the frenetic boom and bust years of the early 1900s. \nJames R. Anthony: The Banker Who Shaped Florida’s History introduces us to pioneers\, politicians\, millionaire developers\, and sketchy con men. You’ll meet the developers who sold the dreams and who\, along with real estate speculators\, helped fuel the boom. J. R. Anthony observed it all\, working and profiting through the good times and moving on before the economic balloon burst in 1926. Anthony’s story is much like Florida’s story—a fascinating history lesson brought to life in vivid detail by the man who helped shape it. \nVic DiGenti is the award-winning author of six novels\, a collection of short stories\, and\n13 works of nonfiction. His novels include the Windrusher trilogy of adventure-fantasies\,\nand the Quint Mitchell Mystery series published under the pen name Parker Francis.\nWorking as a ghostwriter and biographer\, he’s penned biographies for many clients.\nVic has also helped other individuals edit and publish their books through his\nimprint Windrusher Hall Press.\nAs a working author and publisher\, Vic has taught writing classes at the University of\nNorth Florida and workshops at writers’ groups and conferences throughout Florida. He’s\na longtime member of the Florida Writers Association\, International Thriller Writers\, and\nis on the Board of the Beaches Museum. He lives and works in Northeast Florida with his\nwife and four frisky cats. Visit him at windrusherhallpress.com.
